And we are off!

Brilliant day as we left Sauvie Island for our journey to Mendoza and then to Patagonia. All the little pieces of a year of planning have started to fall into place. Excited to be finally sitting at the gate waiting for leg one of our flights.

So thankful for our friends Christine and Helmut for stepping up to dog sit our princess, Tazzie AND watering all the houseplants, maintaining the sourdough starter and keeping on eye on the house!

Our journey was quite the adventure as we made our way to our first night in Buenos Aires. Our flight from Portland was delayed for over an hour due to mechanical issues which slowly cut into our layover in Atlanta. We finally took off with an hour and a half to spare to catch our flight in Atlanta. Upon arrival in Atlanta we sat for almost an hour waiting for a gate to open up. Finally a gate was available but it was the wrong size! When we were finally allowed to deplane, we had all of 25 minutes to make it from Terminal A to F – not to mention what might happen to our baggage! Ron and I fortunately were allowed off in the first wave of passengers where we then ran from our gate to the next. The bad news was this flight also had technical issues and we returned to the gate where sat for another hour – thankfully, we’d used Apple Air Tags in our bags so while we waited checked to find out our bags were right there with us – and we were finally off to our final destination in 10 hours!
